Step Energy has completed works at Itchen College, contributing to the project’s pursuit of a BREEAM Excellent rating.
The new teaching and sports area, currently under construction by Stepnell, will replace five inefficient temporary classrooms. A key feature is the installation of a PV array, which will significantly reduce the building’s energy consumption and costs.

Step Energy’s scope of works included:
Survey: Conducting desktop and site surveys to design a PV array that meets the client’s sustainability and BREEAM objectives.
Design Development: Collaborating with the design team (structural, mechanical, and electrical engineers) to create a coordinated and safe design.
Material Selection: Choosing products and materials to ensure longevity, and reliability for the system.
Approvals: Liaising with the Distribution and Network Operator (DNO) and submitting a compliant proposal for grid connection.
Programme: Working with the Stepnell site team to establish a phased construction approach aligned with key project milestones.
Construction: Providing management and health and safety oversight during the construction phase.
